Sr. High Info

Veritas, which is Latin for truth, is a community of Sr. High students (grades 9-12) that seeks God's truth and applies it to their lives.

The main meeting time for Veritas is on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:00pm in the SHED Gym.

Wednesday nights are for growing spiritually and relationally in a small group setting from 7:00-8:30pm in the SHED. The small groups are divided by gender and grade. Each group studies a variety of topics and is lead by at least 2 adult leaders.

There are also numerous events throughout the year for the Sr. High students and their friends. Here are the main events for the year:

  • High Altitude: beginning of February; This weekend retreat is made for the students to invite their friends who don't know Jesus yet. This retreat is always packed full of fun, time to connect, and a relevant presentation of the Gospel. High Altitude 2007 will be from February 9th-11th.*
  • Ski Days: January/February; We usually hit the slopes once or twice a year. Each student is responsible for their own equipment, lift ticket, and lunch. The Ski Day for 2007 is on February 19th.*
  • 30 Hour Famine: March; This is an opportunity for students to make a difference by raising money and awareness for the worldwide poverty and hunger that affects millions of people.
  • Senior Recognition: May; This event for the graduating seniors is always special. Held in the Main Auditorium, it is for parents and family to celebrate the accomplishments of their senior.
  • Summer Mission Trips: July-August; Each year we provide a variety of missions opportunities so the students can serve and live outside of their comfort zones. There are 3 missions opportunities for 2007: Camp Barnabas, Juarez, Mexico, and Ethiopia.*
  • Houseboats: beginning of August; This amazingly fun trip is perfect to get reconnected after a busy summer, and also great to invite friends along! There's a lot of fun in the sun-swimming, water skiing, etc, and daily Bible studies and talks.
  • Fall Retreat: November; This retreat has rotating themes-either a service oriented weekend or a 'Split Retreat' where guys and girls split to talk about gender specific issues.
  • Senior Sneak Retreat: beginning of December; This retreat is a chance for the seniors to get away to get refreshed and challenged to end their last year well.
  • Double Eve: end of December; This all-nighter is packed full of fun activities-including food, laser tag, roller-skating, and more! A great event to invite friends to join in the fun! The 2006-7 Double Eve has been postponed again; it will be in March of 2007. More info to come!*
