Jr. High Ministry

Amped, the Jr. High Ministry, seeks to provide an 'Amped Up' community where Jr. Highers (grades 7-8) can gather for fun, learning God's Word, and worship.

The main meeting time for Amped is Sunday nights from 6:30-8:00pm in the SHED Loft. What a typical Amped Sunday night looks like: hang out time, fun crowdbreaker, meet and greet, hot issue discussion, worship time, and a talk with a discussion. A variety of activities and topics always keeps the students on their toes!

Tuesday nights are for diving into God's Word in small groups; from 7:00-8:30pm at different homes (except for the first Tuesday of the month). Small groups are divided by gender and in other strategic ways. Each small group has a least 3 adult leaders to guide the students through the Bible study and also to invest relationally in the students.

There are also numerous events throughout the year for your Jr. Higher. Each event has a different purpose. Here are the main events for the year:

  • Snowbound: Late January; This extremely well done weekend retreat at Frontier Ranch in Buena Vista is intended for students who are not yet connected and for the regular students to invite their friends that don't yet know Jesus. It's always a weekend of a lot fun and a clear easy-to-understand Gospel presentation perfect for Jr. Highers. Snowbound 2008 will be from January 25-27.*
  • Ski Days: January/February; We usually hit the slopes once or twice a year. Students are responsible for their own equipment, lift ticket, and lunch. One day may be a simple Snow Day for sledding.
  • Small Group Overnighters: February/March; Ran by the small group leaders, each group spends the night at a home and enjoys bonding time and activities as a small group.
  • Bridge the Gap/Steppin' Up: May; These events are designed for students coming into Jr. High and leaving Jr. High and to make their transition a little easier. These nights are packed full of fun activities where they can connect with other students and the leaders.
  • Lone Tree Camp: mid-June; This is where many students make the first time connections to Amped; especially for the new 7th graders. This week-long camp is not to be missed and is specifically for those who feel like they 'don't know anyone.'
  • Summer Mission Trips: July-August; Each year we provide a variety of missions opportunities so the students can serve and live outside of their comfort zones. Jr. Highers are highly encouraged to participate in the 2007 Juarez, Mexico trip at the end of July.*
  • Back-2-School Bash: Late-August; This fun event really gets the students connected and excited for the year to come! This is a perfect event to get plugged back in after a crazy summer.
  • Fall Retreat: October; This retreat has rotating themes: evangelism training and teambuilding experiences. Each theme is intended to help get the school year started well.
  • New Year's Amplified '08: end of December/beginning of January; This wild event is perfect for inviting friends! This all-nighter includes food, games, inflatables, and much more! (formerly called the Burner) This year's Amplified will be on January 4-5.*
