Short Term Missions
Short-term missions are an excellent way to get a taste of missions and personally help expand God's kingdom. Each year FBC expands its short-term mission opportunities. Most trips are launched in the summer and there is something for everyone from teens to seniors. Specific details are announced during Missions Emphasis or can be obtained from any member of the Missions Committee. Set aside a week or two of your vacation and spend it in a significant way for God's glory!
2009 STM Teams
1.) Chinle, Arizona Cross-Generational Team - John Charley
Location: Chinle, Arizona
Description: To minister to and encourage FBC missionary John Charley and his family. The focus of the team will be to reach out to the Navajo people.
Dates: June 6-14, 2009
Cost: $300 per person
Team Leaders: Tim and Stephanie Truong
Team Size: Maximum of 20 people, Families Welcome

2). Inner City Outreach Team (ICOT) - David & Michelle Warren
Location: Inner City Denver
Description: The goal is to bring the love of Jesus to the poor and hurting in Denver through work projects, neighborhood meals, school supply distribution and spreading the Good News of our Lord and Savior.
Dates: August 2-8, 2009
Cost: $200 per person
Team Size: No limit
Team Skills needed: Servant attitude, humble spirit, and a desire to serve God

3). Trip Completed! Inner City Work Team (ICWT) - David & Michelle Warren
Location: Inner City Denver
Description: The team will be renovating a pair of bathrooms in one of the Open Door Ministry’s buildings which will be used by youth groups who come to the ministry.
Dates: May 4-8, 2009
Cost: Lunch and gas to get downtown
Team Leader: Mike Oxford
Team Size: No limit
Team Skills needed: Experience with construction a plus.
4). Juarez, Mexico Family Team

5). Sierra Leone I
Location: Sierra Leone
Description: The team will work with the El Shaddai Orphanage in whatever capacity they feel will best benefit the ministries.
Dates: TBD
Cost: $3500 per person
Team Leader: TBD
Team Size: 15-20
Team skills needed: Desire to help the people of Sierra Leone

6). Sierra Leone II
Location: Sierra Leone
Description: The team will work with the El Shaddai Orphanage in whatever capacity they feel will best benefit the ministries.
Dates: June 4-15, 2009
Cost: $3500 per person
Team Leader: Jeff Baxter
Team Size: 15-20 (college, career and mature high school)
Team skills needed: Previous short-term missions experience and a servant’s heart

7). I Love L.A.! Outreach - Jeff & Debbie Hetschel

8). Poland Cross-Generational Team - Greg & Heidi Carlson
Location: Bielsko, Biala Poland
Description: The team will help renovate a 16-person cabin at the H2O camp facility. They will give it insulation, windows, furniture, paint, and make it ready to be used for ministry.
Dates: July 17-26, 2009
Cost: About $2500
Team Leaders: Tom and Joy McGraw
Team Size: 6-10 people
Team skills needed: None
