In this treasured scripture, our Lord promises to leave us peace and to give us His peace. What a wonderful gift from Him!

Peace in the storms of life is truly possible when we fix our eyes on Jesus. Let us do just that—fix our eyes not on the storms of life or the fear of storms to come, but on Him. Let us accept from Jesus the true peace that only He can provide.

 

Our Retreat Speaker: Lee McDowell, M.A.

Our speaker at the 2007 Retreat, Lee is a graduate of Wheaton College, received a M.A. in counseling psychology from Denver Seminary, and completed a Graduate Certificate in Leadership at the University of Denver in 2005. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of OMF International and Colorado Christian University. As a licensed minister and a member of the Association of Christian counselors, Lee provides personal, professional, and spiritual guidance for transformational living.
 
For 25 years, Lee has developed and led ministries of spiritual development as a women's ministry director, speaker, Bible teacher, and director of recovery group programs. Internationally, she has ministered to mission leaders in Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, China, Singapore, Thailand and Japan, where she counsels on spiritual formational issues for enduring leadership.  Lee also served as a clinical therapist for four years with Southwest Counseling Associates and Missionary Care Services. There, she specialized in issues related to loss, grief, transition, relationships and Christian ministry.

Lee was married for 26 years to the late Dr. Clyde McDowell, who after 23 years of pastoral ministry served as the fifth president of Denver Seminary. She has three adult children, 2 granddaughters and currently resides in Denver, Colorado.
